At Westholme Infant School, we aim to allow our pupils to make sense of their surroundings and the wider world. We encourage them to develop their curiosity about the world and their place in it. Our pupils are motivated to study places and show consideration towards other people who live there. They embark on their geographical explorations in the familiar surroundings of their own locality and later look at the more distant environments.
Cross curricular topics allow our children to grow in their understanding of geography. They go on trips to support their work and learn geographical skills such as simple mapping, making plans, recording the weather and following a route. Our varied outdoor areas encourage our children to explore the woodland trails, create dens and allow them to trial their geographical skills in the great outdoors.
