Mrs Sutcliffe is nominated to carry the Olympic Torch
Year Two teacher Mrs Jan Sutcliffe has been nominated to be an Olympic Torch Bearer. As we all know, she is an inspirational, caring person so this nomination is well and truly deserved.
Jan has been a swimming teacher for 25 years and over 800 children have been taught to swim during this time. She has instigated many charity events including: two Swimathons, three triathlons, the London Marathon, three half marathons, a five mile swim, six Race for Life runs, 40 mile walk, Three Peaks Walk, two midnight 20 mile walks, Manchester-Blackpool cycle race and two Great North Swims. Marie Curie, Macmillan Trust, Children with Leukaemia, Epilepsy Research, Breast Cancer and a special school in Morocco have all benefited from the thousands of pounds her efforts have raised. Some events have been done alone but more importantly she has inspired many others to take part and be sponsored.
Jan and other members of the Superskills holiday team got everyone into the Olympic spirit during the summer holidays.
She will also be organising an Olympic themed event at Billinge House during the Spring and Summer terms. Watch this space for further information nearer the time.
