Oxford Open Day

An insightful visit

Five Year 11 and two Year 12 girls accompanied Miss Smith and Mrs Brown to the Oxford University Open Day yesterday. With all the colleges open for visitors, the girls were able to see inside the usually closed gates and mix with others gazing in wonder around the ancient quads and dreaming spires. The buildings were impressive of course, but the colleges also had numerous willing volunteers who were excited to share their love of Oxford and all things academic with our students.

The group attended an admissions talk at Jesus College to end the day and this gave them an insight into what makes Oxford unique – as well as debunking a few myths about the admissions process! The girls left inspired and excited by what they had seen and heard; discussing which courses and colleges they wanted to investigate further. It was a long way home, but a great day out!
