Heysham Nuclear Power Station Visit

Last Wednesday, our Sixth Form chemists and physicists had a brilliant day touring Heysham Nuclear Power Station.

Donning helmets, high viz jackets, safety spectacles and ear defenders they got to explore this vast industrial site. The scale and complexity of the equipment was breathtaking!

After a talk about potential careers in the sector, they were lucky enough to view the control room and see the turbine hall and the reactor viewing gallery.  Rounded off with a trip to a popular fast food franchise on the way home, it was most definitely an enjoyable day to remember.
