Textiles students’ trip to Platt Hall, Manchester

On Wednesday 8th February, twenty six Year 10 Textiles pupils visited Platt Hall Costume Museum, Manchester.   During the visit the girls created sketches of the garments on display, which dated back as early as the early 1800s, through the swinging sixties and up to the present day with designs by Alexander McQueen.   Students were thrilled to see the original Chanel suits and leopard-print dress by Versace.   Their sketches will be used to enhance the design ideas that the pupils create for their GCSE coursework.

On the way back to school there was an all-important visit to the Trafford Centre to conduct a shop report, as it is vital to keep abreast of the latest fashion trends.   Pupils who worked quickly managed a little retail therapy too!
