Mr Whittaker retires after forty three years’ service to Westholme School
There was a very special assembly today for Mr John Whittaker who has retired from his position as Clerk to the Governors after forty three years’ service to Westholme School. In 1968 Mr Whittaker was instrumental in advising the Governing Body on the purchase of Wilmar Lodge, so that the Senior School could move from its location at Beardwood Bank and expand to include the new Sixth Form.
Over the years Mr Whittaker has seen the growth and development of Westholme with projects including the purchase of the new sports fields, the building of the swimming pool, the science wing, the extension of the art facilities, the state of the art theatre, the Astroturf pitches and the Sixth Form Centre. Westholme has also opened the Junior Boys’ School and a Nursery in the last decade.
Mr Whittaker received an engraved vase and a card signed by every Westholme pupil and member of staff in a special assembly.
Mr Whittaker has been a staunch supporter of Westholme events, attending all the prizegiving ceremonies, carol services, concerts and school productions along with his wife, Norah. They are very much a part of the Westholme community and we look forward to seeing them at future school events. Everyone at Westholme School wishes Mr Whittaker all the very best for a happy retirement.
