Rossall Cross Country

A glorious sunny day on the Fylde coast at Rossall gave us perfect running conditions. The course provided a challenge in that it was extremely wet and boggy in places, runners would have to pick the correct lines through. Luckily we had the chance to walk the course beforehand so knew where to run!

Taking on board the lessons we learned at the Scarisbrick meet a couple of weeks ago, we were determined not to set off too quickly and expend all our energy at the start. Happily most runners took this on board and paced themselves much more appropriately.

There were 28 schools in attendance so competition was fierce in all age groups. It was a tough day for all our runners. As ever, at Westholme, all we ask is that children finish the event and can answer positively to the question, Did you try as hard as you can?

I am delighted to report that in answer to that question the resounding response is YES!! That is all we ask. If we can hold our heads high having given our all, enjoyment and satisfaction are a given.
