Rotary Photography Competition Winners

Intermediate and Senior Winners

This year’s Blackburn Rotary Club Photography competition had the theme of ”˜Peace’.   Westholme’s budding photographers entered some fantastic photographs, and were rewarded with the following prizes:

Highly Commended

Tallulah Martin, Lexi Gavan, Georgina Butler, Lucy Hindle and Sophie Herrick

The Winners of the Intermediate Category were:

1^st – Tom Dixon

2^nd – Megan Collins

3^rd – Francine Tattersall

The judge commented that in this category, the interpretation of the theme was very good with some effective use of mono, as colour might have proved a distraction.  

The winners of the Senior Category were:

1^st – Ruby Willet

2^nd – Sophie Taylor

3^rd – Gwen Erceg

The judge said that one of the most important rules of photography is composition.   All three winners demonstrated this very well, but the winner showed how the use of the diagonal could be used to lead the viewer’s eye into the picture.
