Upper Sixth Form geographers visit Scout Moor
The Upper Sixth Form Geographers took a small break from their revision in order to trek up Knowl Hill on Scout Moor near Rochdale, the windiest place in Lancashire, for their last Geography fieldtrip at Westholme School.
Scout Moor is home to a huge wind farm of 26 turbines but there are plans to double the wind farm in size, making it one of the largest onshore wind farms in the country. However, this development has not been without conflict between the developers and local people and after the students discussed these issues they evaluated the impact of the wind farm, on the environment and surrounding communities, for themselves.
