Senior School Carol Service

Senior Schools’ Carol Service at the Cathedral

Westholme’s Senior Schools Carol Service was held at Blackburn Cathedral on  Wednesday evening.   As families arrived  on a cold,  frosty  evening they were greeted with the mesmerising a cappella introduction to ”˜Once in Royal David’s City.’ Sixth Formers every Christmas rise to the challenge of opening this service with their unaccompanied, beautiful voices and this year was no exception.   The readers who took us through the biblical journey were all clear and precise, the alternate singers tuneful and the musical performances sublime. There was a subtle mix of traditional with modern, and perhaps the highlight of the evening was the stunning rendition of ”˜Carol for the Drum’ by the Senior Orchestra. The congregation left the cathedral feeling restored, appreciative and very festive.
