Last week marked the culmination of two years of hard work for our Year 13 students. As they finally disembark from the Westholme ship, they head off into new pathways and exciting futures.
However, we could not let them go without affording them a real Westholme thank you and goodbye. With that in mind, their final full day provided formal occasions for the school to say farewell, through their official Stand Down assembly and a delectable lunch in the common room, at which we were very fortunate to be able to invite parents into school to join in with the celebrations. Typically, students would return that evening for their Leavers Ball.
However, with the early start to A Levels taking place during the following day, we postponed the festivities until the Friday evening, to ensure the entire year group could come together to celebrate in style. Throughout the day last Friday, the Croston Theatre was transformed into a resplendent ballroom, with many students and staff giving their time to help set up the decorations and tables. Finally, students and staff paraded down the purple carpet to a paparazzi entrance, decked out in fine attire and wearing all the excitement and gratitude that had defined their final week at school.
Our school catering team certainly showcased their talents as guests were treated to an array of delectable canapés, followed by a delicious three course meal, all of which was served by a team of willing Year 12 students, happy to support the year above in their celebrations. The evening was filled with smiles, laughter, music and dance; not to mention the awarding of some personalised awards for each student from our Student Executive to round off the evening. A huge thanks go to all staff involved in making the evening happen and to the Westholme Association for their kind donation towards the event.
We must personally thank the kitchen for providing us with such a delicious meal from start to finish. And finally, thanks go to the students and parents of Year 13, not just for the Stand Down, but for everything they have given to Westholme School over the years. They have truly shone and we are proud of their accomplishments. Good luck in your A Levels and we all look forward to seeing your success in the summer and beyond.
