Sophie’s playing off scratch
Westholme is very proud of the achievements of Year 10 pupil, Sophie Lamb who, this week, came down to scratch – a big step for a fifteen year old, especially as it is only four years ago that she started playing 18 hole golf competitions.
Sophie has been an England regular for some time now, and during the Easter break competed in Strathmore, Scotland. After a slightly shaky start, Sophie played the second round two under par which gave her tenth place out of 93 golfers. Sophie went on to compete in the Hampshire Rose, playing 36 holes in one day. She won the Best Gross prize.
Sophie’s next competition takes her to Troon, Scotland, which promises to be a big competition for her. The best amateur players from Europe will be competing, so this will be a fantastic experience on what is a tough links course.
Sophie is currently Junior County Champion and is looking forward to playing in the County Championship at the end of May, particularly as it is played at the very special Royal Lytham Golf course.
We continue to enjoy watching Sophie’s golf career go from strength to strength.
