A Level students visit Liverpool
Year 12 students attended a series of STEM Masterclasses held at the University of Liverpool. Academics from across the Department of Mathematical Sciences delivered a range of interactive and exciting talks about the applications of their research to the real world. Each student had the opportunity to attend lectures relevant to the A Levels they are taking or a career they would like to pursue. Students chose to attend a lecture in Chemistry, where they learnt techniques of synthetic organic chemistry in a state of the art lab and prepared a sample of a local anaesthetic.
They also attended a lecture in Computer Science, experimented with artificial intelligence and learnt about issues and techniques for programming robots to give them autonomy. Overall it was an educational and inspirational day.
