A super sporty week of fun!
The very first Westholme Swim Camp got off to a flying start this week and despite the mixed weather the children and staff had an incredibly energetic time, making the most of indoor and outdoor activities.
There was no shortage of sports on offer which gave the children the opportunity to try something new or to improve their skills in a sport which they already know and enjoy.
During the week there has been a real buzz in the Sports Hall with a different sporting focus every day.
These included ball skills, basketball, football, uni- hockey, netball and bench ball, as well as badminton, tennis, dodge ball and team games – which certainly brought out the competitive spirit!
In the pool the younger swimmers developed their technique and practised breaststroke, front crawl and backstroke and continued to enhance their water confidence, whilst the older children did some serious ‘club’ swimming in the morning and afternoon sessions.
On the final day it was a frenzy of tournaments, ‘round robin’ events and galas. There was just enough time for a morning cross country run in the glorious autumn sunshine with some personal best distances covered, before heading back to the pool for a special synchronised swimming competition.
After lunch the Swim Camp finished off a fabulous week with a gala and a game of water polo. It’s safe to say that our first Swim Camp was a fantastic success and has established itself as a favourite holiday club with all of the children who attended.
A very special thank you to Mrs Sutcliffe, Miss Thompson and Mr Haworth for organising a highly entertaining and super sporty week!
