Year 5 learn about the famous Tudor war ship
When Mr Etough from The Mary Rose Trust visited Year 5, they discovered that life aboard a Tudor war ship wasn’t as glamorous as they had expected!
He painted a graphic picture of the dirty, cramped conditions and unappetising meals and then explained how the crew of the ill-fated Mary Rose met their unfortunate end. The girls were full of questions and thoroughly enjoyed investigating the artefacts provided by the Trust.
Westholme helped to prepare me for my path into politics – my time at the school gave me the knowledge and the confidence that I could achieve anything. Anything at all!
Westholme helped me to understand that in life hard work always beats natural talent. So, everywhere I go now I always make sure I’m working harder than my competition – this allows me to achieve my dreams.
At Westholme I was taught that no dream was too big. We were encouraged to aim for the stars, which I did and succeeded! Knowing I had their constant support even to this day, anything was possible.
At Westholme, aspirations were encouraged strongly, along with a clear ethos that working hard was the way to achieve them. It’s an attitude that has been incredibly positive for me.
More than anything, Westholme taught me to be fearless in my aspirations. It was an environment which encouraged me to stay true to myself, and to treasure and cultivate my creativity.
I think that it is extremely important that people aim for the best and keep their aspirations for the future high. Aspirations and dreams are hugely motivating.
