A morning of wonderful poetry at Westholme
Today saw the Westholme Poetry Speaking Competition take place in style. Pupils from all Year groups lit up our stage with performances varying from a lively, rapping grandma and a highly entertaining version of ‘Albert and the Lion’ to the more reflective Keatsian ‘Bright Star’ and Maya Angelou’s ‘Caged Bird’. The competition was hotly contested but our judge, Mrs Sullivan finally decided upon ‘We’re going on a Bear Hut’ by 8M and ‘Signed your Little Girl’ by Emily Jones of 11W.
Many thanks to all our competitors as well as to all those who auditioned. You have thoroughly entertained us with the power of your poetry. We look forward to next year’s Shakespeare Speaking Competition!
