Outstanding achievements in athletics in all Year groups

The finals of the Blackburn with Darwen Athletics Championships took place at Witton Park.   Westholme competed in all age groups and this year we had a Year 7 Boys’ Team for the first time.   Well done to all athletes in all year groups who put in a spirited performance and competed to the best of their abilities.

Certificates were awarded for all pupils coming in the top three in the finals.   Congratulations to the following athletes:

Year 7

Natasha Rogan – 3rd in the 200 metres and 1st in the 800 metres

Laura Backhouse – 1st in the 1500 metres

Francesca Hemmings – 1st in the Hurdles

Ella Boys – 1st in the 200 metres

Ella Boys, Katie Redman, Phoebe Waddicor and Celia Parker – 2nd in the Relay

Overall, out of ten schools, Year 7 girls came 2nd

 

Year 8

Olivia Pickford – 2nd in the Hurdles, 1st in the High Jump and 1st in the Shot Put

Lucy Fielden – 3rd in the 1500 metres

Baylie Thompson – 2nd in the Javelin

Alexa McTiffin – 2nd in the Long Jump, 1st in the 200 metres, 1st in the 800 metres, knocking an incredible 5 seconds off the sports’ day record.

Olivia Pickford – Baylie Thompson, Alexa McTiffin and Fiona Anderson – 2nd in the Relay

Overall, out of 10 schools, the Year 8 athletes finished in FIRST PLACE!

 

Year 9

Darcey Bradburn – 3rd in the 200 metres

Fallon Hargreaves – 1st in the 100 metres

Rebecca Lloyd – 3rd in the Hurdles, 3rd in the 100 metres

Molly Nelligan – 3rd in the Shot Put, 1st in the 800 metres and 1st in the Javelin

May Daley – 2nd in the Hurdles

Rebecca Souter – 2nd in the 200 metres

Darcey Bradburn, May Daley, Rebecca Lloyd and Fallon Hargreaves – 2nd in the Relay

Overall, the Year 9 Team finished in 2nd place

 

Year 10 and 11

Alice Taylor – 3rd in the Javelin

Charlotte Booth – 1st in the 800 metres

Annabel Steele – 3rd in the 100 metres and 1st in the Long Jump

Natasha Mols – 1st in the High Jump and 1st in the Shot Put

Maddie Ainsworth – 2nd in the 1500 metres

Lottie Latham-Taylor, Katie Greenall, Annabel Steele and Natasha Mols came 1st in the Relay

Overall, the Year 10 and 11 Team finished in  FIRST PLACE  

All points for all teams were added together to give the overall team standings.   Westholme School were crowned Town Champions for 2013
