Year 7 Trampolining Champion Alex Jones
Alex Jones, a Year 7 pupil, has won two silver medals in trampolining and double mini trampolining in the regional qualifiers of the National Developement Programme. These were held last week in Wigan and means that he will now advance to the finals in Birmingham later this year.
Alex began gymnastics at 5 years old and decided to specialise in trampolining 2 years ago. His latest success means that he’s now placed 11th in the country in his age group (13-15 year olds), even though he is still only 12, which makes his success even more impressive.
To maintain this standard Alex trains up to 3 hours a day, 4 times a week, which shows his dedication to his sport. He admits to being very competitive and is looking forward to the next round of the competition.
Good luck Alex, we’ll be cheering for you!
