Congratulations to Year 8 student, Lara Ingram-Weston who competed in the Cadence Tri, Junior Triathlon in Wales at the weekend.
Competing in the T2 girls race, she started in lane two for the 200m swim and kept pace with the other girl in her lane stoke for stroke with just one second between them as they ran to transition.
Losing a bit of ground in transition one, Lara had a strong cycle on the wet and muddy grass course and kept the first place athlete in sight gaining slightly on each of the laps of the 4km ride.
With the first place girl close, Lara had a quick transition two and headed out strongly onto the 1600m run course. With four hilly laps to complete Lara strode out and soon passed the other athlete to take first place, quickly extending her lead to over 15 seconds ahead of second place and finishing in a time of 00:25:24.1.
This was a well deserved top spot on the podium after a strongly fought competition in rather wet & muddy conditions. Well done, Lara!
