Welcome to Westholme Virtual Sports Day 2020
We would love to be able to hold the school annual Sports Day as usual, but due to the unprecedented circumstances during this difficult period we have decided to hold a ‘Virtual’ Sports Day where all students have the opportunity to get involved in a series of challenges and physical activities from home. Students who participate will represent their ‘Houses’ and compete against their fellow students for fun and to be named as Virtual Sports Day Champions!
There are a series of 9 activities for students and family members to get involved with, each outlined in the videos below and set by members of the PE staff. The aim is to encourage as many people to get involved as possible, to enjoy being active whilst away from school and to challenge each other to get the best possible results – good luck everyone!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
For Year 7 and 8 students and families, your Virtual Sports Day takes place on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th June. For Year 9 and 10 students and families your Virtual Sports Day will be on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th June.
All results and a montage of your best efforts will be posted on the webpage on Friday 19th June. Staff will also have the chance to represent their House and upload their efforts.
Simply watch the demonstration below, fill out the corresponding form and upload the evidence that is requested. Once you have completed an activity you can move on to another activity. You can do as many activities as you like but can only do each activity once. Your brothers, sisters and family members can also get involved using your @pupil.westholmeschool.com email address.
If you complete an activity you will gain 10 points, if you complete all the activities you will be awarded with 20 additional points. If you are the best in your Year Group at a particular activity you will earn your House 25 extra points!
We look forward to your participation in this event and can’t wait to see your efforts!
Additional Information
Please take care when completing your activities. Be conscious of pedestrians if using public spaces and follow social distancing guidelines. If possible avoid crossing any roads and if doing so use designated crossings where possible. Ensure that you have asked relevant permission to complete the activity in the area that you intend to use. Please make sure that you have any medication needed during the activity. We also advise completing the activities with the assistance of family members. Please warm up sufficiently before completing the activities and upon completion of the challenges return your surroundings to the way that they were before you started. Wash your hands before and after the activity and sanitise any device used to record your evidence.
