Miss Farrell is the class teacher for students in Prep 3.
Mrs S Barrett – Prep 4W
BEd (Hons)
Mrs Barrett has a long association with Westholme being an alumni, starting at Billinge House when she was just three years old and more recently with both her children attending the school. Mrs Barrett returned to Westholme herself in 1996 after training to be a teacher and working in Oxfordshire for several years. When not working hard at Prep she loves cooking for her family and friends, reading a good book and taking her dog Daisy for long walks with her husband.
Mr P Holland – Prep 4S
Mr Holland joined Westholme Prep in 2023 and is the current class teacher for students in 4S. In addition to teaching in Prep 4, he loves having the opportunity to teach music lessons to children in years 3,4 and 6. Mr Holland is fascinated by history and enjoys running the Young Archaeologists Club after school. He lives in Blackburn with his wife (who also works at Westholme) and his son Noah.
Mrs H Burton – Prep 5W (alongside Mr P Harrison)
BA (Hons), QTS Edge Hill College
Mrs Burton began her connection with Westholme in 1983 when she joined the school as a Year 7 pupil. After completing her degree she returned as a Year 4 class teacher before taking a break with her two children. Mrs Burton then returned to teach music at the former Boys’ Junior School and then back to the Junior School. She is now enjoying working alongside Mr Harrison as the Class Teacher for students in Prep 5W. Mrs Burton lives in Blackburn with her husband, children Charles and Ella and their recent dog Barney.
Mr P Harrison – Prep 5W & 5S
BA (Hons) Manchester, PGCE
Mr Harrison has taught at Westholme since 2006. As well as teaching the Year 4 class, he loves the opportunity of teaching computing to all the children at Prep, and is renowned across the school for his sense of humour – so he says! He is fanatical about sport, especially cricket and football, and is a long suffering supporter of Everton FC. Mr Harrison is married with two sons, both of whom thrived during their time at Westholme.
Mrs L Butler – Prep 5S (Alongside Mr P Harrison)
BA (Hons) with QTS, Lancaster
Mrs Butler came to Westholme in September 2006. Ever since then, she has taught Year 5 and really enjoys this age group. She loves rugby and cricket and has been involved in running the cricket team in previous years as well as art clubs. She has also been involved in some of the drama productions over the years as well. Mrs Butler has a gorgeous son called Ciaran who keeps her busy in her spare time! As she is originally from Northern Ireland, she looks forward to going there during her holidays to catch up with family.
Mrs A Cunliffe – Prep 6W
(BMus), QTS, Post Graduate Certificate
Mrs Cunliffe joined Westholme in 2021, initially as a Learning Support Assistant at Seniors before joining Prep in April 2023. She is now the class teacher for Prep 6W and Prep SENDCo.
Mrs Cunliffe began her teaching career at a Prep school in Bath in 2010, however, time living in Qatar and motherhood, gave her the opportunity to take a break to complete postgraduate study looking at effective educational provision for pupils with SEN. Originally from the Fylde Coast, Mrs Cunliffe now combines her classroom and SEN responsibilities with a love of sport, helping to coach the swim clubs whilst having a particular passion for Hockey, coaching at a local club.
Miss R Harding – Prep 6S
BA (Hons) with QTS, Leeds Beckett University
Miss Harding joined Westholme in 2023, and is the current class teacher for students in Prep 6S. She has been teaching since 2015, but has recently moved back from Dorset and is enjoying living closer to her family. As well as teaching the Prep 6 class, Miss Harding loves the opportunity to teach PE and Games to Upper Prep. She has a passion for sports and spends a lot of her free time playing sport and exploring the great outdoors. Miss Harding has a passion for English and is excited to spread her Love of Reading across Prep.
Mrs H Ahmed – Upper Prep Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Level 3 Childcare NCC, Level 3 Special Education Needs NCC Level 3, Fda in Teaching and Learning Support in Primary Level 5
Mrs Ahmed has three children who have either attended or are currently attending Westholme. In her spare time, Mrs Ahmed enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs S Baker-Vose – Upper Prep Teaching Assistant
Mrs Baker-Vose joined Westholme in 2023 and is a teaching assistant for students in Upper Prep.
Miss S Cole – Upper Prep Teaching Assistant
Miss Cole is a teaching assistant for students in Upper Prep at Westholme.
MRS HUSSAIN – UPPER PREP TEACHING ASSISTANT
Teaching Assistant -level 3 childcare NNEB, Level 2 NCFE in understanding children and young people’s mental health.
Mrs Hussain started Westholme in 2021 and is a teaching assistant for pupils in Upper and Lower prep as well as one to one support. Mrs Hussain is happy to have the opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of children and says there is tremendous satisfaction in watching a child discover new learning.
MRS E LOWDE – Prep Outdoor Education
BA (Hons), Northumbria, PGCE
Mrs Lowde has a long history with Westholme School; she started as a pupil in nursery aged three and continued through to the Sixth Form. “I thought Westholme was such a happy place for me and I wanted to be in the position to create an equally positive and stimulating environment”, said Mrs Lowde, explaining why she had returned to teach at Westholme after completing her degree. A natural sportswoman, Mrs Lowde has contributed enthusiastically to Co Curricular activities by running netball and tennis clubs, and she is now responsible for Outdoor Learning at Prep. Her hobbies include walking her dog in the Lake District and skiing.
MR D BARNETT – TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
BEd (Hons), Cantab
Alongside being a Teacher of Physical Education at Westholme Prep, Mr Barnett enjoys sports, travel and outdoor pursuits.
MISS E HALL – TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Miss Hall works alongside Mr Barnett, helping children at Prep to learn and enjoy all things sport and exercise related.
MRS S ATKINSON – PREP OFFICE MANAGER
Mrs Atkinson is the Office Manager here at Westholme Prep, where she is assisted by Ms Akbar on Reception.
MRS H AKBAR – PREP RECEPTIONIST
Ms Akbar is the Receptionist at Westholme Prep, manning the front desk as you walk in through the door. She assists Mrs Atkinson with the running of Prep.
