Westholme Keeps Going in the Snow!

Westholme pupils have fun coming to school in the snow.

The last few weeks have presented many challenges for schools in the North West with heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures and the looming external exams for the senior school pupils. However, despite these challenges, Westholme has been able to open as usual on all but one day this term. Even when our school coaches were unable to travel along Meins Road to the Senior School, Lillian Croston, our determined Principal, saw a way around the problem by escorting coach children down the road on foot. Our hard working maintenance team has pulled out all the stops to make the school sites as safe as possible.

These photographs from an old boy, now living in Canada, put everything into perspective as we compare our current snowy scenes with those of Mellor during the 1946-7 winter.
