Rotary Youth Speaks Public Speaking Competition
Three Year 9 students from Westholme School reached the district round of the Rotary Youth Speaks Public Speaking Competition. They competed against 6 other schools from the North West held at Windermere School on 7th February.
Laura Backhouse delivered a flawless performance as the speaker, exploring the complexities of modern English and judgments made as a result of the way we speak. Rabia Majid adopted the role of the Chair, winning the award for the best Chair in the competition. Finally, Harriet Entwistle offered a stunning Vote of Thanks, delivered with skill and warmth.
Despite their excellent performances, Westholme did not win, however, Laura, Rabia and Harriet enjoyed the experience and they were a credit to the school.
