Our students will be sleeping under the stars and under their kitchen table as part of Nightsafe’s Sleep In on 30th May.
Children from Nursery to Y13 will be raising money for the charity while having fun sleeping somewhere different.
The Sleep In aims to raise the profile of the Blackburn-based charity – which celebrates its 30th anniversary year – and also much needed funds to help it meet the £100,000 deficit it faces this year as a result of the Coronavirus.
Zoe Kenealy, Assistant Head at Westholme School, rallied the support from the students by holding a virtual assembly about the fundraising appeal.
Everyone who takes part in the fun event is being encouraged to sleep somewhere weird and wonderful and donate via their justgiving page – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/westholmeschool
Mrs Kenealy said: “Westholme has a holistic vision of education for each and every student, and outdoor adventure is an important strand to the activities we offer.
We decided to support Nightsafe’s Sleep In because a lot of our trips have been cancelled so we thought it would be fun to do a Sleep In over half term and at the same time try and raise money for a local charity that supports young homeless people.”
If you would like to take part in the Sleep In, please donate via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/westholmeschool. We’d love to see pictures and videos of your Sleep In and they can be shared with Nightsafe by tagging @NightsafeBwD on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SleepIn
If you would rather sleep in the comfort of your own bed, but donate to the cause instead, please visit justgiving.com/night-safe
