A traditional Victorian Christmas
Year 1 have had an exciting start to the festive season with a visit to Judges’ Lodgings in Lancaster. They found out about a Victorian Christmas and it’s traditions.
The morning was split into several workshops where the children were able to make a cornucopia as well as helping to stir the Christmas pudding.
On the top floor of the house a special visitor was waiting for us. Father Christmas explained about the contents of a Victorian Christmas stocking before reading his favourite story ‘Twas the night before Christmas.’
We played traditional parlour games in the entrance hall and we joined in an old fashioned sing song around the Christmas tree, with Father Christmas arriving just in time to wave us off.
Many thanks to Mrs Woodruff and Mrs Sarwar for accompanying the trip, it was a fantastic and festive day!
