Year 5 Reading Competition

An entertaining afternoon!

Over the past few weeks, Year 5 pupils have been working hard practising their readings for the House Reading Competition which took place last week. All pupils delivered their reading to their peers and class teachers. The staff then faced the challenging task of selecting 12 pupils for today’s competition.

The 12 selected pupils were:

Today all of the students from Year 5, staff and parents gathered to watch the competition on this very sunny and warm afternoon. Mrs Davenport was invited to be the guest judge and the 12 selected students each took their turn to stand at the front and read an excerpt from their chosen book.

They were all extremely confident and eloquent, captivating the audience and transporting them into another world with wonderful tales of battlefields, pirates and villains.

It was extremely difficult to choose the winners but in the end the results were as follows:

Boys

2nd place – Ibrahim Ismail

Girls
1st place – Grace Berry
2nd place – Katy Ninan
3rd place – Darcie Dewhurst
