Year 5 Reading Competition

Year 5 reading competition takes place

Over the past few weeks, Year 5 pupils have been working hard practising their readings for the Inter-House competition which took place last week. All pupils delivered their reading to their peers and class teachers. The staff then faced the challenging task of selecting pupils for today’s competition.

The choice of readings were from a wide variety of books including classics such as George’s Marvellous Medicine and The Witches to more contemporary tales like Mr Stink and Demon Dentist, both written by David Walliams.

Adjudicator, Mrs Vivienne Davenport, Commercial Director for Westholme commented that the children spoke clearly, confidently and had good eye contact with their audience and that she could tell they all had a love of reading.
