Over the past few weeks, the Year 5 pupils have been working hard practising their readings for the House Reading Competition which took place last week. All pupils delivered their reading to their peers and class teachers. The staff then faced the challenging task of selecting pupils for today’s competition.
The finalists read excerpts from a range of books including a Roald Dahl classic, humorous David Walliams novels and a gripping Jennifer A Nielsen novel. The audience were thoroughly entertained by the way in which the pupils not only read, but actually acted out certain sections.
Mrs Hiller, Head of English at Senior School was invited to judge the competition and was astounded by the standard of reading which was displayed. She applauded all finalists and gave each individual feedback on their performance. She was particularly impressed by the confidence, clarity and volume of all finalists.
