House Sports

Junior and Senior House Football

As we approach the end of the calendar year we also approach our annual House Sport Events. As the hockey and football matches got underway, there was heated competition on the astro turf despite freezing conditions.

The Seniors kicked off a brilliant first day of sport. The football matches were hotly contested and a run of draws made the league even closer. With boys from Year 10 to Year 13 competing, the standard was very high. It all boiled down to the last game of the day, Longridge vs Calder. If Calder won they would be crowned the Senior Football Cup Champions, although Longridge were up for the challenge and weren’t going down without a fight. It was close game, but Calder managed to win and are now our Senior champions!

The following day saw students from Years 7-9 participate, starting with a combined Year 8/9 team. There were some brilliant team displays. Once again, it came down to the last game. Longridge needed to win by 4 goals to seal the championship, but a resilient Calder beat them in the last game which meant Pendle are the Years 8/9 Winner!

Year 7 were up next and treated us to a fantastic morning of football. After all the matches had been played and totals calculated we had a tie! Calder, Pendle & Longridge were level on points, goal difference and goals for and against. Therefore, we headed into a penalty shootout. The boys showed they had nerves of steel, so much so that the penalties went on to sudden death. In the end there could only be one winner and the Year 7 House Football Champions were Longridge!

Junior and Senior House Hockey

A fantastic morning of competitive hockey was played between our four Houses this morning. Despite the gruelling bitter weather, all the girls showed tremendous determination and effort playing for their sides. Year 7 were up first with some very close matches and skillful hockey.  In the end it was Bowland who were victorious for Year 7!
