Building
From September 2022, all Westholme pupils from 4 to 18 will be educated on one beautiful campus as we open the state-of- the-art Prep School at Wilmar Lodge. This new, perfectly developed space gives our students access to more experiences, more opportunities to enjoy, explore and advance their academic and extra-curricular skills.
Diving in
The new Prep School is located adjacent to our own pool, where all children enjoy swimming each week as part of their curriculum. They also have stacks of lunchtime and after-school clubs to jump into! Water Zumba, Kayaking, life-saving skills or Water Polo anyone? Imagine that. Within minutes, our pupils can be in the water, learning the basics with our supportive swimming teachers, or gaining a new Personal Best with our expert coaches. It’s all about confidence, technique, fitness and of course, fun!
Performing
At Westholme all students enjoy the chance to perform on our professional stage in the Croston Theatre, one of the largest school theatres in the country. We develop future-ready attributes, character and communication skills through speaking on a stage of this size from such an early age. It’s not daunting, it’s daily routine. Westholme plays, shows and concerts are legendary throughout the area as the excellence of our facilities is matched by the brilliance of our teaching. It is an exceptional experience for every child and exceptional is what we do.
Experimenting
Just across the Woodland Walk, you’ll find our superb Science facilities. What a treat. Our Prep students tap into their natural curiosity, supported by the very best teaching and facilities. We develop scientific enquiry from an early age, allowing each child to develop their inquisitiveness, build their analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience wonder as they carry out fascinating experiments!
Competing
A plethora of sports is played every week and all Prep pupils will get the chance to train with professional coaches, inspiring them every day. Choose from football, hockey, tennis, cricket, rounders, rugby, netball and cross country to develop team building, leadership skills, and physical agility. A multitude of opportunities is available with the Astroturf, tennis courts, outdoor space and pool right here, accessible for every child to enjoy. Competitive matches are just as important as learning new skills and enjoying the fresh air in our lovely setting.
Exploring
Forest School is a brand new development for Westholme, providing nature trails and an outdoor classroom within our stunning grounds. Taking advantage of our enviable rural location in the Ribble Valley, pupils will enjoy Forest School sessions focused on building confidence and introducing pupils to natural world subjects. This allows children to be at one with nature, nurturing their curiosity, and creating a paradise for educational play.
Growing
To meet demand, we are growing our student numbers in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6. This allows us to give pupils the space to think independently and creatively, to enjoy full participation in their learning journey, and achieve their fullest potential.
Making it!
Creative Arts, Textiles, Food and Design Technology are also on the doorstep. The outstanding equipment we provide includes a kiln, laser cutters and 3D printers. Our patient and creative teachers will show Prep students how to tap into their limitless potential to bring their creations to life, supported by the best facilities. No wonder students grow into such open-minded, thoughtful and well-rounded young people.
