Eye Surgeon speaks to Year 5 pupils
Mr David, Tanya Philip’s dad came to talk to Year 5 about eyes this morning. He was very informative and answered a barrage of interesting questions from the girls about the structure of the eye and eye health.
We would like to thank Mr David for taking time out to come and speak to the girls!

Westholme helped me to understand that in life hard work always beats natural talent. So, everywhere I go now I always make sure I’m working harder than my competition – this allows me to achieve my dreams.
At Westholme I was taught that no dream was too big. We were encouraged to aim for the stars, which I did and succeeded! Knowing I had their constant support even to this day, anything was possible.
At Westholme, aspirations were encouraged strongly, along with a clear ethos that working hard was the way to achieve them. It’s an attitude that has been incredibly positive for me.
More than anything, Westholme taught me to be fearless in my aspirations. It was an environment which encouraged me to stay true to myself, and to treasure and cultivate my creativity.
I think that it is extremely important that people aim for the best and keep their aspirations for the future high. Aspirations and dreams are hugely motivating.
