Volcano model competition
Year 9 pupils were set a very challenging task; they had to research and produce an educational model of a volcano. The results of the competition are as follows:
In 3rd place
Matilda Prescott-Jones for her superbly realistic version of Mount Stromboli.
In 2nd place
Florence Schofield for her beautifully creative model of Mount Stromboli erupting. The model is covered in genuine lumps of lava taken from Mount Etna and Mount Vesuvius and includes a small village nestling at the foot of the volcano which is about to be engulfed by a lava flow.
In 1st place
Lucy Parr for her truly amazing model of Mount Merapi in Java. This extremely realistic model includes a clear cross section, ash plumes and lava flows that are actually smoking as they descend from the crater.
The standard of the models has been exceptionally high this year and the Geography Department would like to thank all of Year 9 for making such a huge effort.
