A-level business studies students visit to Envelope Works
As part of their A-level studies, Upper Sixth Business Studies students have been set the challenge of investigating ‘Manufacturing in the UK’. This is a difficult concept to understand clearly in the classroom but is made much easier to see the process in reality. Therefore, a visit to ‘Envelope Works’ in Earby proved just the insight our students needed to enlighten their studies.
The Business was bought ten years ago by Mr Mark Farrimond, who has since transformed it beyond recognition. Mr Farrimond clearly explained to the girls how he had taken a failing business and made it into the success it is today by taking risks, never taking his focus off the competition and keeping a close eye on every little detail. Seeing the shop floor in action also provided a useful insight into how production actually takes place and the scale and speed at which this happens was fascinating.
A huge thank you to Mr Farrimond and his team for their hospitality!
