Fairtrade Fortnight

Fundraising for Fairtrade Fortnight!

This week was the start of Fairtrade Fortnight and we have been focusing our efforts on increasing awareness of Fairtrade and raising funds. Our Fairtrade Committee made up of Senior School students of all ages work continuously throughout the year to make a difference, but these two weeks are an especiall important time to shout about Fairtrade.

A former pupil and dedicated campaigner for Fairtrade, Sara Parker visited us to talk to all of our pupils about her work in Nepal as well as here in the UK, in support of the Fairtrade Organisation. You can read more about her visit here

The ever popular Fairtrade Market Stall once again came to the LRC at break and lunchtime, thanks to Mrs Cath Greenlees from the Preston Fairtrade Group and the Fairtrade Team. As always, the entire student body seemed to descend on the stand and gifts, treats and handmade goodies flew off the tables, so we are hoping for another brilliant total…watch this space.

Mrs Greenless then spent time going into lessons to talk to students about the Fairtrade initiative and how they can become more actively involved. Many thanks again to Cath for her tireless work and contribution to the school.
