Harvest Festival

The students from Infant and Junior Schools have been celebrating Harvest Festival over the last week.

At the Infant School there was a special assembly held and the children welcomed Barbara Foster from Blackburn Food Bank into school.

Mrs Foster talked about Harvest as a time for giving. In the lead up to the assembly, children had been collecting provisions and had brought them into School for the Food Bank in Blackburn which helps many local people in need.

On Friday, the children from the Junior School joined together at St Silas’ Church to celebrate the Harvest Festival with parents and friends.

Readings, poems and a special Harvest prayer were all read by the pupils to a congregation of parents, grandparents and friends.

The special harvest hymns filled the church and brought warmth and joy to the service. The form and vice form captains from Y3 – Y6 carried donations to the altar.

The service drew to a close with a blessing. Thanks were given to all for the donations of food, – they will be most gratefully received by those in need through the Blackburn Food Bank.

Thank you to the staff, students and parents for their generosity and support.
