London Art & Photography Trip

Westholme students stand outside Tate Modern in London on a school trip

The Art Department took 31 students down to London on a cold, crisp Saturday morning to visit key sights and see some fabulous artwork.

Their first stop was Brick Lane where they enjoyed walking around the surrounding streets and admiring the superb variety of street art from some notable names.

The ever changing displays never cease to amaze and inspire!  Lunch was enjoyed in Spitalfields Market, which houses a wide variety of street food restaurants and stalls showcasing British independent designer-makers.

They then travelled by tube to the Tate Modern gallery, where the impressive collections of contemporary art were enjoyed by all. By walking over Millennium Bridge, the photographers amongst the group were able to capture the fading light and impressive skyline visible from every angle either looking out over the Thames or up towards St. Paul’s cathedral.

The final stop was Covent Garden where students had their last chance to do some Christmas shopping and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the festive market.  All in all, it was a great day out with an enthusiastic group of students!
