Junior Geographers visit the Ribble Discovery Centre
On Thursday 19th June, as part of their geography work on coasts, 6W spent a wonderful day at the Ribble Discovery Centre by Fairhaven Lake in Lytham.
After a morning of mud-dipping in Granny’s Bay, where the girls found crabs, snails, ragworm and numerous live shellfish, they ventured into the sand dunes in the afternoon. There, they took part in a trio of activities which involved looking at the vegetation in the different zones of the sand dunes, working in groups to record their changing height and sketching a sand dune profile.
Running down the sand dunes and creating sand sculptures on the beach were just two of the highlights of the day which was made all the more special by the glorious weather!
Huge thanks go to the Westholme Association who funded this trip, a great final day out for the girls in Year 6.
