Outdoor Learning
The children at Billinge House took full advantage of the sunny weather yesterday as many of them enjoyed a lesson outside.
Some of the children in Year Two made full use of the amphitheatre, where they performed a pirate song and dance to their classmates. Behind them on the top playground, Year One were using the adventure trail, the target game and the 100 square, developing many crucial mathematical skills as they did so. Mrs Milnes was also having a game of giant snakes and ladders what a treat!
In a quiet corner of the middle playground, some children were putting their gardening skills to the test with Mrs Foster in the re-cycled garden that the children in Gardening Club had made.
Mrs Moores-Hart took her Year One class outdoors too for an Art and Design lesson with a twist! The children collected acorns, grass and pebbles to name but a few, as they set about creating natural sculptures in the style of Any Goldsworthy.
Much activity was to be seen with the Reception classes too Mrs Waddicor and Mrs Sutcliffe sat around a camp fire with the children, as they toasted bread and sang camp fire songs. Some of the other Reception children also got to grips with den building and Miss Cole enjoyed a swirling ribbons exercise with another group of children.
Pre-School children enjoyed playing outdoors too they donned their wet suits and played in the garden and in the wooden playhouse.
What a super morning it was to be learning in the great outdoors!
