Fully equipped with cutting-edge stage lighting and the latest in sound technology systems, the incredible Croston Theatre gives each and every student the opportunity to learn about all facets of performing arts & theatre, with the best apparatus at-hand.

Fostering our pupils’ confidence, collaboration and communication skills, our professional theatre facilitates the growth of various technical skills, including stage management; set design; costume-making and much more.

State-of-the-Art Recording Studio

Supplied with a state-of-the-art recording studio, our music department benefits from its own control room, live room, and various technical equipment – ranging from microphones and audio mixers to monitors and headphones.

Our breathtaking ensembles include our impressive swing band, orchestra and multiple choirs, alongside a variety of smaller ensembles unique to individual talents.

GCSE Drama & A Level Drama

Our Eduqas GCSE Drama course is designed to develop our students’ acting, theatre design, confidence and communication skills, while allowing them to focus on their favourite aspects of the subject. This could include:

  • Stage design
  • Sound or lighting design
  • Costume & makeup

Similarly, our Eduqas A Level Drama course further stimulates our students’ existing performance abilities, teaching them to work as a team and balance different ideas.

Focusing on the ways in which various performance and production elements are combined to create theatre, candidates must choose to write assessments on any of the following options:

  • Directing
  • Acting
  • Costume design
  • Mask or puppetry
  • Set design
  • Technical elements, e.g. lighting & sound

Our AQA A Level Music course is for anyone considering a future in the industry, whether that be teaching, performing, or composition.

Bolstering your child’s success, we teach our students how to use the Sibelius software on a PC in order to bring their compositions to life. Offering plenty of creative freedom, students can choose to focus on:

Westholme's Performing Arts Achievements

Thanks to our incredible students, teachers and state-of-the-art performing arts facilities, in 2024, our school was recognised multiple times for its theatrical excellence. Here are some of our school’s proudest achievements:

  • We created 8 major Senior productions and 2 major Prep productions, as well as 3 showcases, which sold out to packed-out audiences of over 4,000!
  • We were nominated for 13 district and 3 regional NODA awards, including 10 individual student nominations.
  • We won 3 NODA awards for our students’ fantastic recreations of their favourite West End musicals!
