Physics Olympics

On Saturday 13th October 2018, a team of four Physicists took part in a variety of academic and practical challenges against teams of students from all over the country in the “World Wide Physics Olympics” at Liverpool University.

Two of the questions they were asked were ‘at what rate do your toenails grow’ and ‘how many protons are there in a mug of your favourite drink?’  Along with these theoretical problems the students faced practical problems such as locating the position of a hidden Cobalt 60 source.  They had a fabulous time and came home in the latest fashionable t-shirts clutching their precious Physics Olympics mug – a collectors’ item of the future perhaps!
