National Science & Engineering Week
Last week Senior School students explored the world of science and engineering through a range of lunchtime activities and experiments. These included making a hovercraft, building Nautilus Gears, and filming moving objects to produce calculations of motion.
Surprisingly one of the best attended sessions was the rat dissection in the biology labs which attracted a large number of students!
The final experiment which had to be postponed several times due to bad the weather was the rocket launch – always a favourite which everyone wants to come and watch if only to see what happens! Unfortunately things didn’t quite go to plan with the rockets but the students had fun with the exploding pop bottles anyway as you can see in the video clip below.
The students and teachers had a fun week and proved that science really can be accessible for everyone. Perhaps it may have inspired some scientists of the future!
