Today we welcomed GCSE students into the Sixth Form for their Sixth Form Taster Day.
Dressed to impress, students enjoyed a multitude of A Levels subjects, which they had previously selected to see throughout the day. Whether they wanted to see the differences at A Level in the subjects they already take at GCSE, such as English, Science or Maths, or they opted to see new subjects, such as Classics, Sociology, Psychology and Economics, they were all given an excellent insight into those subjects at higher level.
Students were also given free study time in the common room to utilise all of the facilities we have available at Westholme for Sixth Form students, and they enjoyed speaking to the current Sixth Form students about what life is really like here when you make the step up.
A number of students are sitting the scholarship examination this afternoon, before being invited back for interviews to potentially receive the prestigious scholarships available for Sixth Form students.
Overall, it has been a very successful day and the students have certainly shown their maturity in the Sixth Form environment. Many have commented how their choices are now more difficult, as they have enjoyed the various lessons so much that they are now torn between which options to take at A Level.
Mr Oracz has been very impressed by the attitude and interest shown by the students and would like to thank each and every one of them for helping to make the day such a success. Now they have difficult decisions to make, but we hope that today has helped highlight the excellent teaching and opportunities available to students at our Sixth Form.
