Westholme School’s Soloists Recital
On Wednesday evening, we held Westholme School’s Soloists Recital for Senior students in the Croston Theatre, in front of family and friends who had come to watch. The evening was organised and presented by Director of Music, Mr Holt, alongside Mrs Lewis and Mrs Holland.
It was a chance for students from Year 7 to Upper Sixth to showcase their individual musical talents, and we saw a wide range of instruments played and songs performed across the evening. It was great to hear the variety of music that was played from ‘The Bare Necessities’, ‘City of Stars’ (La La Land), a song from ‘Frozen 2’, Blur’s ‘Song 2’, Fantasia and Zelda.
Students playing instruments or singing were accompanied by either Mr Holt or Mrs Lewis on the piano. Performances ranged from 30 seconds long to a few minutes, so some of the change-overs were fairly fast and furious! Needless to say, the quality of show was very impressive and the crowd showed their appreciation after each performance.
As Mr Taylor said at the end, performers have the power to bring great joy to other peoples lives, and the audience certainly agreed that our students had done exactly that tonight.
Well done to everyone involved in Westholme School’s Soloists Recital!
