Sustainable Schools Conference
On Thursday, a group of enthusiastic Westholme students from Years 7 to 9 took part in an inspiring day at the Sustainable Schools Conference held at the iconic Ewood Park, home of Blackburn Rovers. The event brought together schools from across the region, all united by a shared goal: building a greener future.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t your average school trip. The day was packed with interactive workshops, talks by eco-leaders, and hands-on activities that challenged us to think critically about how our schools — and our lives — can become more sustainable. Topics ranged from energy efficiency and food waste to biodiversity and fast fashion.
Students worked on a production line challenge, STEM challenge and a number of students acted as guides supporting primary students from the local area around the event.
One highlight was the Aqua Lease tank with starfish and the visiting farm animals!
The buzz on the bus ride home was all about how we can turn what we learned into action back at Westholme.
