Mrs A Moore
Year 10 marks the beginning of an exciting journey, with the commencement of your GCSE studies, and one which I look forward to being part of along the way. It is, as independent and determined students, your responsibility to act upon all that is on offer at Westholme to support you through your studies and to help you achieve the best possible outcome in the summer of 2023. Whilst this may seem too far in the future to comprehend, it will be upon us in no time and therefore it is important to start as you mean to go on, taking responsibility for your decisions and actions both inside and outside of the classroom to enable you to achieve your full potential.
You have already taken an important decision when choosing your options in your desire to study further those subjects you enjoy. There is no doubt that you will come across challenges along the way, but perseverance and guidance will help you to overcome these obstacles. It is essential that you allow sufficient time to complete tasks, to the best of your ability, as you lay the foundations for success in your GCSE examinations. In completing tasks on time you will avoid putting yourself under additional pressure and stress, neither of which are productive. It is important to remember that our school motto is ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’, which is achieved through balancing your studies, co-curricular activities and commitments outside of school; time management is key.
An important part of school life is to give students opportunities, and these are many and varied at Westholme. A ‘can do’ and ‘yes’ attitude will allow you to benefit from all of these.
A focus for Year 10 students is to take responsibility for yourself. The choices you make and the actions you take will determine both your path beyond school and the person you will become. To assist and support you in your journey through your GCSE’s are your Form Tutors, who have a wealth of experience and knowledge, alongside your subject teachers and me, as your Head of Year. We are all here to support you and celebrate your successes.
I am incredibly excited and looking forward to working with you all over the next two years as your Head of Year.
As a note to parents if you have any queries or concerns I can be best reached via email moorea@westholmeschool.com or alternatively contact me via reception.
