Last week, Westholme students celebrated World Book Day in a variety of ways. Students across the Senior School were celebrating by decorating their form class doors in a literary style!
Each form room took on the design of a concept taken from a chosen book, ranging from the books of David Walliams, to Harry Potter and even Pride and Prejudice.
It was great to see students getting involved and we saw some fantastic efforts and designs that added colour and character to the corridors. The doors were judged by Head of English Mrs Corrigan and custodian of the LRC Mr Eldershaw, who had also been encouraging staff members to share recommendations of their favourite books throughout the week.
It was a great way to celebrate world book day and we’re looking forward to announcing the winners in this week’s school assembly!
World book Day Themed Lunch
We also celebrated World Book Day with a themed lunch based on the writing of Roald Dahl. Our catering partners Thomas Franks put on a lavish Chocolate Cake for dessert in the shape of a giant open book, with an extra ‘Peachy’ sauce on the side inspired by the story James and the Giant Peach!
Amazing Prep Costumes!
On Friday, our Prep School students also celebrated by putting on some fantastic costumes in celebration of their favourite book characters. From literary characters such as the Mad Hatter, Gangsta Granny, Frodo Baggins and many more…they really brought them from the page to life!
