Update from the Head of Prep, Mrs Hornby

During this morning’s Celebration Assembly, we took a moment to reflect on the many events and activities that have taken place over the past few days. It was wonderful to welcome back our Prep 6 pupils on Monday after their very successful PGL trip. We were delighted to receive a thank-you note from the PGL staff, who commended our puils for their exemplary manners, behaviour, and teamwork. We are incredibly proud of them for representing the school so well.
We also celebrated the fantastic achievements of our Prep 2 & 3 pupils, who recently applied their French skills during a themed breakfast. It was inspiring to see them using what they have learned in such a practical and engaging way.
Another highlight of the week was the Prep Showcase, which continues to leave us all feeling uplifted. From start to finish, the evening was a true celebration of our pupils’ diverse talents. The variety of solo and group performances were a testament to the hard work and courage of our students, with music, drama, dance, and public speaking all on display. Every performance demonstrated not only individual talent but also the importance of teamwork and mutual support.
A special thank you goes to Mrs. Eames for her outstanding leadership in bringing this event together. The success of the Showcase is a reflection of her unwavering commitment to nurturing a love of performance in our pupils. We would also like to thank Mr. Holt for his continued dedication to the Prep Orchestra, as well as all the teachers and staff who worked behind the scenes to make the evening such a success. The event was professionally filmed, so we look forward to receiving the footage.
Looking ahead, tonight marks the beginning of an exciting and memorable event for our Prep 2 and 3 students—their very first sleepover at school! The excitement is palpable and we are looking forward to seeing our pupils embrace this new experience. The night will be filled with fun activities, new adventures, and plenty of laughter.
A big thank you to Mrs. Dixon for her efforts in organising this event, as well as to all the staff members who will be staying with the children throughout the night. For many of our pupils, this will be their first time spending a night away from home and we’re excited to watch them develop greater confidence while creating wonderful memories together.
