Year 6

It has been absolutely wonderful to welcome Year 6 back into the classroom. It has been a delight to watch the pupils welcome new members of the school family into their class and there has been a real sense of belonging and teamwork already show in the class.

In the classroom we have not just focused on ‘settling in routines’ but we have also started accessing the broad curriculum on offer at the Prep, including extra-curricular activities. Highlights have been discussing the key features of autobiographies and studying the emotional accounts of ‘Spit Nolan’ and Ronald Dahl, the children have started their task of producing their own life stories and being introduced to what life was like in Victorian Britain in History. On Wednesday afternoon the pupils pretended that they had become apprentices of the Victorian artist William Morris. The children are in the process of producing their own artwork in the style of William Morris and these pictures will be soon on show around the school.

A final highlight of the week was joining teachers at Senior School for their weekly EPR, science, DT and games sessions, a day that I know will become a firm favourite in their week.

Congratulations to you all! I am now very much look forward to doing the same in the coming weeks for our Junior House Captains. These positions will be contested for and voted on in a House Assembly on Monday 27 September.
