Year 7 Induction Day
On Wednesday afternoon, we welcomed a new intake of Year 7 students for their induction day at Westholme. It was a chance for them to learn more about the school, meet their new classmates and teachers, have some taster lessons, and get involved in some fun activities!
On arrival, they were greeted by some of our current Year 7 students who helped them to register and find their way to their newly assigned House form rooms and teachers. Here they took part in some ice-breaker activities where they were able to introduce themselves and find out more about their new classmates.
Head of Year 7 Mrs Moore then led an assembly in the Croston Theatre, giving them an introduction into what life at Westholme is all about and what it means to be a Westholme student. Afterwards, form tutors then led the students away to their taster lessons, a combination of fun science experiments in the labs and geography lessons.
After a quick re-fuelling break in the Sixth Form common room, they were able to take part in a Treasure Hunt that took them to various locations around the school, helping them to get their bearings! There was also a capture the flag team building game on the astroturf, making the most of the beautiful sunshine. It was great to see students getting involved and having fun.
Parents then arrived to meet staff and make their way around the various information stalls in the Dining Room. They were then taken to the Theatre where the children joined them and there were speeches from various key members of staff. The event concluded with a fun fashion show showcasing the school uniform.
A great day was had by the new Year 7 cohort; what an enthusiastic and happy group of students they are. We look forward to them joining us at Seniors in September!
