Year 7’s reach cup final at Darwen FC!

On Wednesday morning, our Year 7 football team took to the pitch at Darwen FC to play local rivals St Bede’s in the final of the Blackburn with Darwen cup!

It was great to see families and staff had come to support in the stands, as the boys made the short journey from school to the ground on a beautiful and sunny morning.

After a motivational team talk by Mr Purdy and Mr Smith, they started the match with the trophy in their sights. It was a great match with plenty of skill and determination on show, finishing 2-2 at the end of full-time.

Going into to extra-time, the teams were evenly matched with Westholme playing some great football and creating good chances. Neither side could score the winning goal so it went to penalties.

Unfortunately for Westholme, St Bede’s came out on top 4/3 in the shootout, to win the trophy.

Congratulations to St Bede’s for winning a close final and to all of the Westholme team for putting up such a good effort. There were plenty of great performances on route to the final, with many memorable moments along the way.
